Healthcare
A healthy community in which to live means healthy employees who contribute significantly to their employer to the benefit of both their customers and shareholders. It is another great example of the Linamar Stepping Stool philosophy and the concept of Balance - which ensures all decisions or actions equally weigh the expected outcome to those 3 key stakeholders.
Linamar recognizes a healthy community for employees to live in is so crucial and has therefore made healthcare key focus of it Powering Futures initiative.
Over the past number of years Linamar has been involved with local healthcare centres on efforts to update facilities and invest in new equipment to improve patient’s services. This has included:
- In 2012 $1.0 M (CAD) donation by Linamar Corporation and the Hasenfratz Family to the Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital. The foundation’s MRI and More campaign addressed three priorities including purchasing a MRI Scanner, enhancing emergency room department care and providing equipment for vascular surgery services. The foundation recognized the charitable contribution by naming the ER the Linamar Emergency Department
- In 2018, MacDon, a division of Linamar, contributed a significant donation to the STARS air ambulance aircraft group who provide critical emergency urgent care transportation services to the public in Western Canada. STARS is located in Canada’s rural agricultural heartland within the prairies and MacDon is happy to support this vital service to the communities where the company’s dealers & customers live, work and farm.
- In 2019 Linamar, along with the Hasenfratz family provided another donation to The Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital of $5 M (CAD), a record-breaking contribution. In what the hospital’s CEO said “Was a lasting legacy for the community,” the initial funding was set to be used towards new infant warmers in its labour and delivery rooms as well as a new centralized cardiac monitoring system and enhancements to electronic health records
- Additionally, other members of Linamar’s executive group also personally contribute to both Guelph General as well as the St. Joseph’s Health Centre in form of charitable donations and by serving on boards
